The Odisha government has announced intentions to hire 1,840 physicians and more than 5,000 paramedical professionals in the near future, marking a major step in improving healthcare services in the state. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presided over a review meeting of the State Health and Family Welfare Department on Monday at Lok Seva Bhawan, where this decision was made. In order to guarantee improved healthcare services, Chief Minister Majhi emphasized at the meeting the pressing necessity to fill open medical jobs throughout the state. In order to properly deploy medical officers, he gave officials instructions to implement a rationalization process, paying particular attention to disadvantaged tribal and distant locations.
The need to fill teaching positions at government medical institutions, including those of assistant professors, associate professors, and professors, was also brought up at the conference. Plans to expand postgraduate seats and upgrade medical college facilities were considered by the chief minister. He called on the relevant departments to hire technical and other critical personnel as soon as possible. Establishing Integrated Trauma Care Centers in accident-prone areas and boosting incentives for physicians working in hard-to-reach areas were two of the main projects highlighted. There was also discussion of the difficulties AYUSH physicians encounter. To satisfy healthcare demands, Chief Minister Majhi orders swift action on hiring, pay adjustments, and medical education growth.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Health Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Aswathy S, National Health Mission Director Dr. Brundha D, Managing Director of Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited Dr. Poma Tudu, and Finance Department Principal Secretary Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra were present at the meeting.
