Odisha To Resume Supply Of LPG To Hotels, Restaurants Soon

In response to persistent worries about commercial LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) availability for establishments like hotels and restaurants, the Odisha government announced steps to address the supply.

Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said commercial LPG allocation has been increased to 50%. “While 20% was designated for commercial use, the central government has permitted an additional 20% to states specifically for restaurants and hotels. The remaining 10% is subject to certain conditions for supply. Of these, 40% will be made available from today,” he said.

In response to supply problems brought on by the ongoing violence in West Asia, the Center authorized an extra 20% allocation of commercial LPG to states and Union Territories on March 21, bringing the total to 50%. This gave restaurants, hotels, and other impacted industries much-needed respite.

By claiming that 14,000 household LPG cylinders are now kept in reserve and are sufficient to meet current demand without interruption, the Minister further allayed worries about LPG availability. He emphasized that supplies are allocated based on demand and urged customers to avoid panic purchasing by maintaining composure. The state administration has also stepped up operations at several sites to stop the illicit sale of LPG cylinders in order to guarantee efficient delivery and avoid abuse. Patra issued a warning, saying, “Those found involved in illegal practices will face strict action.”
