According to reports cited by news agency ANI on Wednesday, the special session of Parliament would begin in the old building on September 18 and shift to the new building the next day in honor of Ganesh Chaturthi. Pralhad Joshi, the minister for parliamentary affairs, had earlier stated that the event was planned to honor Amrit Kaal, a government official. “A special session of parliament, consisting of five sittings and the 13th and 261st sessions of the 17th Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, respectively, has been called from September 18 to September 22. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Amrit Kaal looks forward to having constructive talks and debate in Parliament.

The parties were taken off guard when the administration announced a special session from September 18 to September 22 since no agenda for the 5-day meeting had been provided. Sonia Gandhi, the leader of the Congress in parliament, complained in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the lack of openness surrounding the special session. This sparked rumors that the Lok Sabha elections might be moved up to coincide with the upcoming assembly elections in November and December. Rumors abound that the ruling dispensation may seek a resolution to rename the nation for formal purposes to Bharat amid the fierce political conflict between Bharat and India. The formation of a group to examine the idea of having simultaneous polls throughout the states might also lead to progress on “one nation, one election” during the session.

The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha secretariats informed news agency PTI on Saturday that because this is not a normal session but rather Budget, Monsoon, and Winter, neither House of Parliament would meet during Question Hour or for private member’s business. The members will be briefed separately about the provisional calendar and there will be five sittings, they added.
