The lawsuit claimed that the Air India pilot instructed the cabin crew to make the cockpit “appear welcoming, warm, and comfortable, as though he were preparing his living room for a lady friend.”The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), which oversees aviation, fined Air India 30 lakh rupees on Friday for failing to resolve a safety-related incident in which the pilot of Delhi-Dubai aircraft AI 915 violated regulations by allowing his female companion inside the cockpit on February 27.
“Air India was fined 30 lakh for failing to respond quickly and efficiently to the safety-sensitive matter. The PIC’s (pilot in charge) licence has been suspended for three months for abusing the authority granted to him by the 1937 Aircraft Rules and for permitting a breach of the relevant DGCA regulations, according to a DGCA statement.
The co-pilot received a warning from the regulator for failing to take firm action to stop the infraction.
“One of the flight’s operating crew members complained to Air India’s CEO about this. Despite the fact that this was a safety-sensitive infraction, the organisation did not immediately take corrective action. The complainant sought the DGCA because they expected a delayed response,” it stated. The regulator further instructed Air India to take administrative action against any employees who broke the rules while on duty, including removing them from managerial positions for a predetermined amount of time.
