In a significant political development, Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned as the Union Education Minister following intense nationwide protests over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak controversy. The resignation came amid mounting public pressure, student demonstrations, and widespread demands for accountability in India’s examination system.

Soon after accepting Pradhan’s resignation, the Union Government entrusted Pralhad Joshi with the responsibility of leading the Ministry of Education. On assuming office, Joshi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he would discharge his responsibilities with “a sense of duty and humility,” emphasizing his commitment to strengthening India’s education system.
