President Murmu Unveils Science Centre, Tribal Museum In Rourkela

Droupadi Murmu, the President of India, highlighted the Center’s and the state’s emphasis on development in tribal-dominated areas by inaugurating a number of significant public infrastructure projects in Rourkela, such as a planetarium, scientific center, tribal museum, and integrated command and control center. The President opened the Nirmal Munda Parivesh Path and the Planetarium and Science Center at a public event. Later, she opened the Integrated Command and Control Center and the Tribal Museum to the public.

Speaking to the crowd, Murmu emphasized the Sundargarh district’s rich natural and cultural legacy, pointing out that its lush woods, mountains, waterfalls, and rivers give it a special attractiveness. She described Odisha as a region of courageous people with athletic skill, adding that the district’s rich folk customs and cultural practices had greatly contributed to the state’s cultural variety.

The President said that Rourkela has developed into a multicultural center that draws individuals looking for work opportunities from all across India, especially Odisha. She acknowledged that the city was a trailblazer in advancing the state’s sports, art, literature, and tribal customs. Murmu emphasized inclusive growth and stated that the advancement of all societal segments is inextricably tied to the country’s prosperity. She pointed out that several social programs are being implemented by the federal and state governments with the goal of enhancing the socioeconomic circumstances of indigenous tribes, especially in areas like Sundargarh.

The President called on people to actively participate in nation-building and to help those who are left behind. She urged people to work for their own development while supporting the advancement of others.
