During a class, a professor at the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) in Karnataka was caught on tape calling a Muslim student a “terrorist.” On social media, the incident’s video has become very popular.Because of “his name sounded similar,” the lecturer allegedly referred to a student as “Kasab,” a reference to the terrorist convicted of the Mumbai terror attacks of 26/11. The lecturer apologised after the student called him out.
The student is seen in the video lecturing the lecturer for labelling him a terrorist. I find it offensive that you would refer to me as a terrorist. You cannot refer to me in that way because you are a professional and you are a teacher. Although the professor apologised for his hurtful remark, the student said, “Sorry doesn’t change how you think and portray yourself here.”The event was sad, and Manipal University strongly condemns it, according to SP Kar, the institution’s public relations officer. The faculty is currently prohibited from enrolling in classes, according to an inquiry committee that has been established, Kar added. “Based on the results, a proper course of action would be chosen. We are sincerely sorry that such an issue occurred.
