A lot of discussions is going within the oldest Political Party of India in these days. The Indian National Congress, which had been in political powers all across the India for nearly 7 decades are now turning into ruins. Recently the party showed dysmal performances in state elections of 5 states namely Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Manipur, Goa and Punjab where they were considered the least important political party. What hurted them the most was their dysmal performance in what was considered to be their homeland Punjab.
A lot of talks were going around the resignation of Sonia Gandhi, party chief as well as Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. However, the party members convinced them to stay in their party. However, after Sonia Gandhi was convinced by the party members not to resign, she has taken some stern steps. Sonia Gandhi has asked the Party Cheif Presidents of all the 5 states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Manipur, Goa and Punjab to give immediate resignation.
The development comes two days after the Congress Working Committee (CWC) discussed threadbare the reasons for the party’s debacle in these Assembly polls. The Congress failed to win in any of the states and lost Punjab to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi has asked the PCC Presidents of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur to put in their resignations in order to facilitate reorganisation of PCCs,” chief spokesperson of the party Randeep Surjewala said on Twitter.
“The CWC unanimously reaffirms its faith in the leadership of Smt. Sonia Gandhi and requests the Congress President to lead from the front, address the organisational weaknesses, effect necessary and comprehensive organisational changes in order to take on the political challenges,” the Congress Spokesperson had said after the meeting.
