Elon Musk’s satellite internet service, Starlink, suffered a major outage on Sunday, leaving tens of thousands of users offline. According to DownDetector, which tracks service disruptions through user reports, over 45,000 complaints were logged at the peak of the outage.
The number of reports briefly spiked to more than 49,000 before gradually declining. As of late Sunday evening, around 20,000 users were still experiencing connectivity issues.
A live outage map on DownDetector showed that the disruptions hit several major U.S. cities, including Seattle, San Francisco, Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, and St. Louis.
Starlink, which is currently licensed and operational in more than 100 countries and territories worldwide, has yet to release an official statement on the cause of the outage.
