State Prioritizes Development Of Planned Cities For Biksit Odisha 2036

A high-level assessment meeting to evaluate the performance of the development authorities under the Housing and Urban Development Department was convened by Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, today at Kharavela Bhavan. In order to support the Biksit Odisha 2036 goal, the talks focused on boosting the proportion of planned cities, restoring historic cities, and quickening urban growth. Mahapatra underlined during the meeting how important urban development is to Odisha’s overall development.

The TP program was successfully implemented by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA), and plans are underway to expand this initiative to more cities around the state. In order to increase income and expedite urban infrastructure projects, development authorities were directed to use Public-Private Partnership (PPP) methods to leverage government-owned land. The state government will give top priority to filling all open positions in order to address the need for professional knowledge in urban planning and guarantee the successful execution of development projects.

Older cities with insufficient infrastructure, especially roads, limits the development of new homes will receive special attention. Renovating these places would facilitate easier urbanization and make it easier for individuals to build homes. In order to improve urban infrastructure and development, new Town Planning (TP) concepts were put out for Greater Sambalpur and Greater Rourkela, while discussions also centered on the implementation of extensive sewage and drainage projects in Berhampur. Dr. Mohapatra emphasized that a key component of Odisha’s economic strategy will be the creation of planned cities. Urbanization would be a major factor in Biksit Odisha 2036 by implementing proactive agendas and tackling current issues.
