The Karnataka police on Saturday accused Suraj Revanna of sodomising the party worker.JD(S) MLC Prajwal Revanna’s brother Suraj Revanna has been placed under custody for allegedly raping a male party worker.After being taken to the CEN police station in Hassan, Suraj Revanna was questioned for several hours. Later on, he was taken into custody.The Karnataka police on Saturday accused Suraj Revanna of sodomising the party worker.The 27-year-old party worker claims that on June 16, at his farmhouse in Ghannikada, Holenarasipura Taluk, Suraj Revanna sexually assaulted him.
IPC sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 506 (criminal intimidation) have been used to file Suraj Revanna’s case. The 37-year-old Revanna, a union minister’s nephew and the grandson of former prime minister H D Kumaraswamy, has flatly denied the accusation.Shivakumar, an aide to Suraj Revanna, submitted a complaint against the party member on Friday, claiming that the party worker had attempted to extort Rs 5 crore from the JD(S) MLC along with his family. He claimed that if he didn’t comply with their demands, the two threatened to fabricate a case of sexual assault against the lawmakers.
In the FIR, Shivakumar stated that the complainant eventually reduced his demand from ₹5 crore to Rs 2 crore.In search of employment, the JD(S) worker met Suraj twice in June, according to Shivakumar’s complaint, which HT was able to view. The MLC threatened the man after stating that, while it is not now conceivable, “it might be considered in the future” that he would assist him in finding employment.
