Thanks to a new collaboration with Leafly and three stores, including Shiva’s Rose, Hidden Leaf Cannabis, and Minerva Cannabis, Uber Eats customers in Toronto will be able to order marijuana as of Monday.
People in Toronto who are 19 years old and older will be allowed to place orders through the app just as they would at a restaurant, but they will be cautioned that they must be of legal age while looking for cannabis.
According to Leafly, it will be the first time that marijuana delivery will be offered through a significant third-party delivery network, like Uber.Customers who place orders through the Uber Eats app, which retailers may access through Leafly’s infrastructure and respond to. Then, the sellers dispatch employees who have completed Ontario’s CannSell cannabis retail education programme to deliver purchases to customers, whose ages and levels of intoxication are verified at the time of delivery.
This collaboration will aid in the fight against the illicit black market, which continues to account for more than 50% of all non-medical cannabis sales in Ontario. Furthermore, a recent study by Public First reveals that some cannabis consumers drive after using the drug, with 1 in 7 (14%) of them confessing to doing so within two hours of doing so.
“We have made significant investments in our delivery company over the past few years, and the selection has greatly increased. Uber Eats has quickly developed into a flexible platform that can be used by various businesses, both big and small.
