To increase agricultural exports from the state, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and the Government of Odisha collaborated to arrange a Workshop cum Capacity Building Program. The ceremony was held on Friday at the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar, in Dr. M.S. Swaminathan Hall. More than ten booths representing exporters from all across Odisha, state government agencies, women agripreneurs, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) participated in the event.
Koraput Kalajeera Rice, Nayagad Kanteimundi Brinjal, Ganjam Kewda Flower Products, Koraput Coffee, Kandhamal Haldi Powder, Kendrapada Rasabali, Salepur Rasagolla, Khajuri Gud, Dhenkanal Magaji Ladoo, and Mayurbhanja Kai Chutni were among the many GI-tagged and state agricultural products on exhibit.
Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, the chief guest and deputy chief minister of Odisha, highlighted the state government’s initiatives to boost agricultural exports, especially in organic goods, in his keynote speech. He urged exporters to investigate the variety of goods available for promotion in the international market, particularly those with GI tags. He also praised the state government’s and APEDA’s cooperation in promoting agricultural exports.
Three technical seminars that addressed important topics for increasing Odisha’s agricultural exports were part of the event. Under the updated National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP), the inaugural session’s main objective was to promote organic exports. It stressed the significance of organic certification, value chain development, and market access. The second session looked at ways to increase rice exports by utilizing special kinds, boosting logistics, and overcoming obstacles to exporting. The final session focused on agri-processed and GI-tagged goods’ potential for value addition and export promotion, emphasizing the necessity of bolstering cold chain infrastructure, logistics, and market connections.
