World Class Strategic Petroleum Reserve To Come Up At Odisha’s Chandikhole

Tarun Kapoor, the Secretary to Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas called on Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra was they discussed various issues which are related to Oil & Gas Industries.

As per the report, during the meeting, Tarun Kapoor informed that India’s largest strategic petroleum reserve will come up at Chandikhole in the Jajpur district. The proposed Indian Oil Strategic Petroleum Reserve Limited (ISPRL) will be developed into a “World Class Reserve” for petroleum products.

The report further stated that the Odisha Government’s cooperation for speedier execution of projects worth Rs 77,331 crore which is under implementation in the state and the center has also proposed 10 projects estimated at Rs 92,556 crore.

In the meeting, it was discussed that the new LPG import facility at Paradip is likely to be commissioned in May while two new LPG plants are being constructed at Rayagada and Khurda. Three new petrol, oil, and lubricant terminal are coming up at Berhampur (IOC), Sadashivpur (BPC), and Jharsuguda (BPC). Even the Indian Oil’s Paradeep Refinery which is with a capacity of 15 MMTPA is one of the most modern and complex refineries of the country commissioned in 2016 for Rs 34,555 crore.

Tarun Kapoor also informed that pipeline projects like the Paradip-Hyderabad pipeline are likely to be commissioned soon and the Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur LPG pipeline augmented and its extension to Patna and Muzaffarpur too will be completed shortly.

Even the Oil Industry is also committed and is continually assessing and improving its Infrastructure which is to meet the energy requirements of Odisha in March.

Chairman Indian Oil, SM Vaidya; Director HR, Indian Oil Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, and State-level Coordinator for Oil Industries-cum-State Head Indian Oil Subhajit Ghosh were also present during the meeting.
