The STF of the Odisha Police has detained Manoj Kumar Majhi, a highly qualified guy, for extortion. Despite having a PhD and an MSc in Chemistry, Majhi used to pose as a Vigilance officer to commit extortion.
Majhi was listed as an offender and taken into custody by the STF from his hamlet of Phulbari in the Puri district in a recent case brought by an Assistant Chief Engineer in the Odisha Government. Majhi acknowledged throughout the examination that he had demanded money from high-ranking authorities.
Majhi, a citizen of Puri’s Krushna Prasad block, demanded Rs 1 crore from the Assistant CE in question and threatened to have him arrested on corruption allegations.
He pretended to be a senior vigilance officer and mostly targeted government employees and contractors. Additionally, it is being shown that the accused had defrauded certain people after promising to set them government positions, according to the STF.
According to the inquiry thus far, Majhi is a highly qualified individual with an MSc in Chemistry and a Ph.D. from Sambalpur University. On Sunday, he was detained and brought before the SDJM Bhubaneswar Court.
