Shital Mahajan becomes first woman to skydive in front of Mt. Everest

Adventure seekers always have a predetermined list of destinations they want to see and experiences they want to have. Many end up making it their life, even though many make sure to try it ‘once’ in their lives. Introducing Shital Mahajan, a well-known skydiver from India who recently made history by being the first female pilot to jump out a chopper at 21,500 feet in front of Mount Everest.On November 13, Mahajan, 41, who holds multiple skydiving records and is the fourth highest Indian civilian awardee, Padma Shri, accomplished skydiving on the front side of Mount Everest, the world’s tallest peak.

On November 11, Mahajan made her maiden jump from 5,000 feet above ground level (AGL) at an astounding height of 17,500 feet. She landed at Syangboche airport safely at 12,500 feet, with her instructor being the renowned New Zealand skydiver Wendy Smith.Along with legendary skydivers Wendy Elizabeth Smith and Nadia Solovyeva, Mahajan set a national record for the highest flag skydiving landing by a woman on November 12 when she paratrooped from 8,000 feet at Syangboche airfield while wearing the Indian flag.On November 13, Mahajan accomplished a leap at Amadablam Mountain Base Camp from an astounding height of 23,000 feet, landing at an elevation of 15,091 feet. This was the apex of her unwavering quest of challenges. Mahajan’s bravery and tenacity were evident when he finished four parachute jumps in the Everest region in just three days.
