The ambitious bullet train project is currently under full construction. The Mumbai to Ahmedabad corridor is being built as India’s first state-of-the-art High Speed Rail (HSR) corridor; a 50-kilometer section of it is anticipated to open in 2026.
At the Sabarmati Multimodal Transport Hub in Ahmedabad, the first bullet train station is beginning to take shape. Ashwini Vaishnaw, the minister of union railways, posted images of the bullet train station on social media.
The most striking feature is a massive stainless steel mural that portrays one of Mahatma Gandhi’s most famous nonviolent movements, the Dandi March. The Sabarmati Multimodal Transport Hub is being built as a twin structure with a total area of approximately 1,33,000 square meters. There will be room for retail establishments for passengers as well as offices and commercial development.
