In the last Twenty20 World Cup group match, West Indies destroys Afghanistan

In the last T20 World Cup group match, Afghanistan gets crushed by the West Indies. In a match between two undefeated teams on Monday, the West Indies humiliated Afghanistan by 104 runs, with Nicholas Pooran falling painfully short of a first-ever T20 World Cup century. In the last group encounter at the Daren Sammy Stadium in St Lucia, Pooran struck 98 off 53 balls to send the home team to 218-5 after being sent to bat. Both teams had already advanced to the Super Eights.Afghanistan, startled by the loss of Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the opening over of the reply, never fully recovered and was bowled out for 114 from 16.2 overs, with seamer Obed McCoy recording his best figures of 3-14 in his debut encounter of the tournament.

The Super Eights, the next round of the competition, begin on Wednesday. “Batters, you have to take advantage of your excellent wickets. Pooran, who amassed over 2,000 T20I runs with a stunning innings that featured six fours and eight sixes, stated, “When it’s your day, you have to take it and make the most of it.”After Brandon King was out in the second over, Pooran and hometown hero Johnson Charles raced to the middle and increased the total to 92-1 by the sixth over.Since the first of the eight editions of the T20 World Cup was played in South Africa in 2007, that total was the greatest in the history of the competition’s Powerplay overs.

During that unrelenting period of destruction, seamer Azmatullah Omarzai scored 36 runs in an over. His erroneous bowling in the fourth over of the innings demonstrated the disarray within the Afghan attack. In the last over of the innings, Omarzai, however, put an end to Pooran’s attempt to reach 100 runs. The left-hander was hit squarely from deep cover, leaving him just short of his ground as he dove to the crease.
