Today, the Odisha government disclosed that running buses around the State under the LAccMI plan had cost them a lot of money. Under the initiative, the state lost Rs 374.08.58,055 in just 10 months, from October 2023 to August 2024, according to Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena’s report to the Assembly. The Minister said that 1,340 buses are operating under the LAccMI program, with the state government paying Rs 399 crore to ply these buses, in answer to a question from BJP MLA Bibhuti Bhusan Pradhan.
The scheme’s financial difficulties are shown by the meagre Rs 25.03.86,585 in the income generated. Jena acknowledged that the LAccMI program, which was started by the previous BJD government with the goal of building a smooth public transportation network connecting panchayats to the state capital, had fallen short of its goal.
