Odisha Gets Two Awards At 47th World Skills Competition In France

Amaresh Kumar Sahu and Gedela Akhil were commended by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi for their exceptional performances at the 47th World Skills Competition, which took place in Lyon, France, from September 10–15, 2024. Making Odisha proud on a global scale, Sahu was awarded the coveted Bronze Medal in Renewable Energy, and Akhil was given the Medallion for Excellence in Water Technology.

In his message, Chief Minister Majhi remarked, “The accomplishments of our skilled youth at the WorldSkills Competition are a source of immense pride for Odisha. Their success exemplifies the state’s commitment to nurturing young talent and developing skills that meet global standards. I extend my heartiest congratulations to Amaresh Kumar Sahu and Gedela Akhil, as well as the institutions that played a pivotal role in their training, including the World Skill Center, CTTC, and CV Raman Global University. Odisha’s continued journey towards becoming a leader in skill development is on the right track, and these victories will inspire countless others to aspire for excellence on a global platform.”

Amaresh Kumar Sahu, a resident of the Deogarh District, is presently enrolled in the Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar, to pursue a diploma in mechanics. Gedela Akhil is a student at CV Raman Global University in Bhubaneswar, where he is studying a BTech in Civil Engineering. The greatest skills competition in the world, the World Skills Competition, brings together competitors from more than 80 countries to compete in a variety of industries, such as manufacturing, technology, and services.
