The Commissionerate Police in Bhubaneswar has established a special unit called the anti-burglary squad in an effort to reduce the increasing number of theft, robbery, and apartment burglary crimes. The team, which consists of 150 carefully chosen police officers and some armed individuals, will patrol and stop suspicious activity at several locations, particularly at night.
The unit was established to combat apartment looters within the Commissionerate Police jurisdiction in Bhubaneswar, according to Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra. To help police officers, apartment occupants, and other stakeholders communicate, a WhatsApp group has also been established, with the DCP serving as the administrator. The special team has already begun to produce results; information regarding those participating in nighttime looting has been obtained, and several suspects have been apprehended. Additionally, interstate looters have been detected by the authorities as working in some places.
