“Global Efforts to Combat Climate Change Accelerate as Nations Commit to Historic Emissions Reductions”

At least five people have died and several others, including Jain disciples and police officers, were injured after a makeshift stage collapsed during the ‘Nirvana Laddu Parv’ celebration for Bhagwan Adinath, the first Tirthankara in Jainism, in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday. The collapse caused chaos and panic at the site, leaving many devotees hurt.

Rescue operations were launched early Tuesday morning to free those trapped under the debris, and local authorities quickly responded to the situation.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took immediate notice of the incident and instructed district authorities to provide urgent relief to the injured. He also expressed wishes for their swift recovery. Baghpat District Magistrate Asmita Lal and Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya visited the district hospital to assess the condition of those injured.

District Magistrate Lal confirmed the death toll of five, with two additional deaths suspected, though this has not been officially confirmed.
