The twin towns of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack will soon see the installation of more artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled cameras in an effort to improve security and lower crime. S. Dev Datta Singh, the Twin City Police Commissioner, made this announcement on Monday. Approximately 1,000 cameras have already been placed at various locations throughout the Twin Cities, Commissioner Singh told the journalists.
“We believe that, considering our population and security requirements, these cameras are inadequate. Therefore, we have recommended to the government that additional cameras be installed. These AI cameras will help identify criminals and improve analytics, which will strengthen our prevention and detection efforts. By adding more cameras and advanced technology, we believe we can make our security system more efficient and responsive” he said.
Additionally, he spoke about recent crimes, such as robberies, where the police were able to catch the suspects and recover stolen items. He urged apartment owners to install more CCTV cameras and consider hiring security guards for added protection. The police are committed to making Bhubaneswar and Cuttack safer by improving surveillance and security measures.
