Building India’s Cyber Shield: Mr. Deepak Kumar Nath

Founder & CEO of Threatsys Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

FEATURE: In a city where ancient temples and bustling IT parks stand side by side, a young Deepak Kumar Nath discovered a world beyond textbooks—a hidden realm of cyber threats and digital puzzles. Today, as founder and CEO of Threatsys Technologies, Deepak leads India’s charge in cybersecurity, his journey spanning over fifteen years from curious engineering student to global ethical hacking luminary.

Deepak’s fascination with technology took root at home and deepened during his academic years. While peers followed prescribed coursework, he explored online communities of ethical hacking and cyber forensics. By eighteen, he was writing scripts to probe network vulnerabilities. His early exploits earned recognition in Hall of Fame lists at Facebook, Microsoft, Mastercard, Sony, AT&T, and Blackberry—honors he treated as calls to service rather than trophies. Recently, he was officially inducted into Hall of Fame recognitions as a visionary cybersecurity expert.

Driven by a vision for securing India’s digital future, Deepak launched his entrepreneurial journey with a belief that protecting users was a moral imperative. He realized that India needed homegrown cybersecurity leaders.

With that conviction, Deepak founded Threatsys Technologies. Under his guidance, the company built one of India’s rare 360-degree cybersecurity ecosystems. In a landscape where most firms focus on isolated services—be it testing, compliance, or incident response—Threatsys stands out for offering everything under one roof, from penetration testing and vulnerability audits to compliance, training, threat hunting, incident response, and security orchestration. This integrated model has made Threatsys a trusted name across industries.

The strength of this trust is reflected in its client portfolio, which includes major players like Airtel, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Payten, and international banks such as First Bank Nigeria and Union Bank Kenya. Threatsys has also been engaged by the United Nations and the Government of Odisha for high-impact digital security initiatives. From telecom and finance to state governance and global development, Deepak’s team has reinforced critical digital infrastructures across geographies.

At the heart of Threatsys’s offerings is CYQER, an AI- and blockchain-powered platform that combines security information and event management, security orchestration and response, user behavior analytics, and file integrity monitoring into a unified dashboard. Today, CYQER protects hundreds of projects across India, enabling organizations to detect threats in real time, automate workflows, and quantify risk metrics.

Deepak’s drive for innovation extended beyond Threatsys. He founded Factsys Technologies to incubate product ideas and Cybercare Infoways for GPS-based IT services. As Managing Trustee of the Global Institute of Information Security, he champions affordable, accessible cybersecurity education. To date, GIIS has trained more than 48,000 students, corporate professionals, and law enforcement officers worldwide, equipping them with hands-on skills and accredited certifications—many of whom are now working directly with him and his team.

In parallel, Deepak advises more than twenty-five organizations—shaping strategic roadmaps, ensuring compliance, and guiding product directions. His audits for global banks, Fortune 500 firms, and UN units serve as both technical evaluations and strategic blueprints, reinforcing resilience against evolving threats.

Deepak’s commitment to public service is evident in collaborations with state police and government departments. Trusted by the Odisha and Maharashtra Police and the Government of Odisha’s Home Department, he has contributed to cybercrime investigations—dismantling ransomware campaigns and designing secure architectures. As a virtual Chief Information Security Officer to over fifty organizations, he provides executive guidance on risk management, incident response, and compliance.

Beyond technical contributions, Deepak excels at translating cybersecurity concepts into engaging narratives. As an EC-Council and CISCO instructor, he pioneered CISCO CyberOps workshops in South India, empowering professionals to master network defense. His TEDx talk at IIIT Bhubaneswar and keynote addresses at Tech Bhubaneswar and SIDBI Fintech Summits bridged gaps between boardrooms and security operations centers. Deepak also advocates for women in tech, mentoring aspiring female professionals and encouraging them to pursue careers in cybersecurity.

Deepak’s credentials—Lead Auditor for ISO 27001 and HIPAA; certifications such as CISA, CPENT, CCISO, and CPTE; and his role as an EC-Council instructor—underscore his commitment to global best practices. His accolades include the Industry Excellence Award by WIEF, Best Cybersecurity Professional of India, Emerging Cybersecurity Entrepreneur, Youth of Odisha, and Youngest Entrepreneur of Odisha—and most recently, Best Emerging Entrepreneur from ET Now in Delhi, as well as the Cybersecurity Excellence Award from Entrepreneur Magazine.

At the core of Deepak’s ethos lie four guiding principles: “Find a purpose and accomplish it,” “Compete with myself to improve,” “Do the impossible,” and “Have faith in God and work diligently.” These pillars inform every boardroom decision, product roadmap, and training session, transforming challenges into opportunities for growth.

Despite his global reach, Deepak remains deeply connected to Bhubaneswar. He is a familiar presence at local tech meetups, mentoring undergraduates at his alma mater, and collaborating on smart-city initiatives. With a team of over eighty professionals across continents, he has built an ecosystem where local talent contributes to global missions. Under his guidance, Threatsys expanded to Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, while its Bhubaneswar headquarters remains a symbol of homegrown excellence.

In an era where data is the new oil and digital warfare redefines national security, Deepak Kumar Nath’s work transcends firewalls and encryption. He is crafting a digital conscience—an ethical framework that demands not just stronger defenses but smarter minds. His mission is to democratize cybersecurity, fortify global resilience, and inspire a generation to view hacking not as a license to exploit, but as a responsibility to protect. As he reminds his students, “The greatest vulnerability is human complacency.”

Deepak’s rise from a hostel-room tinkerer to a national guardian of India’s digital frontiers illustrates a simple truth: innovation flourishes where passion meets purpose. In a world teetering on the edge of digital chaos, he stands not just as a protector of networks, but as a storyteller—one whose narrative reminds us that the most powerful code we write is the one that secures our shared future.
