Today, Lok Seva Bhawan hosted an initial session (Inception session) on the concurrent evaluation and assessment of various developmental works and project implementation utilizing money from the District Mineral Foundation (DMF). Development Commissioner-turned-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg presided over the event. The districts of Angul, Jajpur, and Jharsuguda were the main focus of the workshop.
The District Collectors of Angul, Jajpur, and Jharsuguda participated virtually in the meeting, according to an official press release. Directors and senior officials from departments like Planning and Coordination, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Rural Development, and other pertinent sectors were also present at Lok Seva Bhawan. Additionally present were representatives of the globally renowned assessment firm “Grant Thornton.”
This assessment complies with the Odisha District Mineral Foundation Rules and the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY). Its objective is to evaluate the welfare-focused programs of the federal and state governments in regions impacted by mining operations. The workshop’s topics included how DMF money are used and managed, if projects are successful in reaching their goals, and how well they serve recipients’ needs. The assessment will enable stakeholders and institutions in future planning, analyze program management for chosen initiatives, and help identify implementation issues.
Assuring sustainable socioeconomic development for populations in villages impacted by mining will also be a major emphasis of the evaluation. The organization will assist the government in assessing the efficacy of the initiative and offer suggestions. Project completion timeframes, data collecting via questionnaires, the assessment study’s general structure, the initiatives done thus far, and the assistance needed from District Collectors—who also expressed their opinions—were all covered in detail in the presentations.
