Sri Lankan Delegation Explores Odisha’s Heritage Sites, Hails Cultural Similarities

On Wednesday, a group of Sri Lankan public relations officials who are now visiting Odisha explored the state’s rich cultural and historical legacy by seeing the Konark Sun Temple, Emperor Ashoka’s rock edicts, and the Dhauli Peace Pagoda.

The visiting team noted the remarkable parallels between Sri Lankan customs and Odisha’s rich Buddhist heritage, art, culture, and food. They said that the exposure would improve their knowledge of India’s cultural richness and foster closer relationships between the two countries’ citizens.

The delegation’s cultural visit was joined by representatives from the Odisha Information and Public Relations Department, the Ministry of External Affairs, and tour guides. The Sri Lankan guests referred to the encounter as “a bridge of friendship” between India and Sri Lanka and expressed special satisfaction at Odisha’s common Buddhist connection and harmonious religious traditions.
