Tehran Rejects Trump’s Ceasefire Assertion, Calls It ‘False’ as War Escalates

Iran has firmly denied claims made by US President Donald Trump that Tehran sought a ceasefire, calling the remarks “false and baseless,” according to reports citing Iranian state television.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump alleged that Iran’s “new regime president” had approached him requesting a ceasefire. However, Iranian officials clarified that the country’s leadership remains unchanged and dismissed the statement outright.

Trump further stated that he would only consider a ceasefire if the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz was “open, free and clear,” adding a warning that the US would otherwise continue aggressive action.

Meanwhile, Iran signalled its readiness to sustain the conflict. In an interview with Al Jazeera, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran would not respond to threats or imposed deadlines, emphasizing the country’s determination to defend itself.
