Enumeration Phase of SIR has begun in Odisha

BLOs to visit door-to-door in Odisha

The Election Commission of India has engaged over 45,000 booth-level officers (BLOs) to conduct Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voters’ list in Odisha. On Sunday, the enumeration phase of SIR began in Odisha alongside states like Mizoram, Sikkim and Manipur. Odisha has the largest electorate of 3.34 crore voters. They are supported by 38,123 BLOs and 8,391 BLAs.

In this phase, Booth-Level Officers (BLOs) go door-to-door to distribute, collect and verify enumeration forms. Voters can submit their duly filled forms to the BLOs or online. Draft electoral rolls will constitute forms received by the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) on or before June 28.

Those electors who fail to submit their forms by the deadline may still apply for registration as a new voter through Form 6, along with the prescribed declaration form to be submitted during the claims and objections period.

The Election Commission has urged all eligible voters to actively participate in the SIR process and cooperate with election officials during the house-to-house enumeration drive. The Special Intensive Revision was launched to ensure that all eligible citizens are included in the electoral roll while preventing the inclusion of ineligible persons. Recently, the Supreme Court upheld the SIR of electoral roles as the Election Commissioner’s Constitutional Duty.
