Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra launched the season 2 of the Municipal Premier League (MPL 2.0) which is the first competition held for the tax officials. The Municipal Premier League (MPL 2.0) is initiated by the State Government.
The Municipal Premier League (MPL 2.0) initiative intends to digitize tax collections, through intensifying performance and transparency. This initiative also strengthens the embroilment of Mission Shakti Groups in supporting the ULBs to boost tax collections.
As per the best performance of the tax officials or Mission Shakti Self-Help Groups, they will be awarded after the League concludes.
The first season of MPL which was launched in only 9 AMRUT cities of Odisha in FY19-20 and the first season was a huge success in boosting the own revenues of the ULBs.The result of the first league was tremendous as it improved the collections by 37% over FY18-19.
Around 114 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) are included under MPL 2.0 where digital collections through MPOS (Mobile Point of Sale) machines to be given the topmost priority emphasizing the importance of 5T initiative.
And over 900 tax officials along with Mission Shakti SHGs will be participating in this competition.
Director of Municipal Administration Sangramjit Naik also shared the details of the programme and gave the detailed presentation.
Chief Executive Officer of Janaagraha Srikanth Viswanathan, Collectors, Additional District Magistrates, Sub-Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, Executive Officers, City Managers (Nodal Officers for MPL 2.0), Tax Officials, Janaagraha officials, and other associated officials accompanied the launching of MPL 2.0 through a video conferencing and discussed the details regarding the League.
