Internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik’s sculpture on Puri beach with the message -Preserve our oceans earned praise from the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) on the occasion of World Ocean Day which was held in June 8.
The purpose of the day is to inform and educate the public about the impact of human actions on the oceans, develop a worldwide movement of citizens and mobilise and unite the world’s population on a project for the sustainable management of the world’s oceans.

According to the report, Sudarsan Pattnaik took five hours to create the sculpture out of six tonnes of sand and measures 15 feet wide.
The UNEP also shared the sand art in all their social media accounts like Facebook, Instagram. Even Sudarsan Pattnaik’s sculpture on World Environment Day was also appreciated by UNEP.
