After kicking off on September 7 in Kanyakumari, India’s southernmost point, the Bharat Jodo Yatra, a nationwide campaign by the Congress Party to unseat the BJP, was finished one month later. On September 30, when the party’s national head Rahul Gandhi reached the state via Gundlupet in the Chamarajanagar district bordering Kerala, the Bharat Jodo Yatra entered the election-bound state of Karnataka.
Over the course of 21 days, the Yatra will travel 511 kilometres through Karnataka. Rahul Gandhi previously delivered a speech in Mysore while it was raining heavily, and pictures of that speech went viral online. In that speech, he claimed that the Bharat Jodo Yatra will continue as planned in an effort to end the hatred and violence promoted by the RSS-BJP.
“No one can stop us from unifying India,” the Wayanad MP captioned the video. Nobody can prevent us from speaking up for India. The Bharat Jodo Yatra, which travels from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, cannot be stopped.
DK Shivakumar, the head of the Karnataka Congress, declared, “After Vijayadashami, there will be Vijaya in Karnataka,” as Sonia Gandhi joined the march. We are honoured that Sonia Gandhi travelled to Karnataka to stroll through its streets. The BJP is on the verge of closing up shop as we take office in the state.
Basavaraj Bommai, the chief minister of Karnataka, minimised Sonia Gandhi’s participation in the party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, stating “she has walked for half a kilometre and gone” and that it will not have an effect on the Congress’ electoral prospects in Karnataka.
Now that Congress has finally gotten the attention they so desperately wanted before election season, they are looking for the popular support they undoubtedly gained in Kerala but lack in Karnataka and the majority of the “to-be-walked” states.
The genuine voters are what count, not the Kayakartas’ display of support, and RaGa will surely need a lot of time to get there even after Srinagar. The party still appears a little overly ambitious for 2024.
