A media report claiming that girls being sold as loan payback in half a dozen districts of Rajasthan has been brought to the attention of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). These young women are being sold into slavery and transferred to places like UP, MP, Mumbai, Delhi, and even international nations where they are abused physically and sexually.
On the orders of caste panchayats, their mothers may occasionally be raped in order to resolve disputes.According to the survey, people in regions like Bhilwara resolve their issues with caste councils rather than calling the police. Frequently, girls are sold or their moms are raped , it was added.
According to the allegation, a caste council ordered a guy to sell his sister and subsequently his 12-year-old daughter in order to pay off a debt of 15 lakh rupees. The Rajasthani administration has been given four weeks to respond. In order to eliminate the caste-based system that infringes on girls’ and women’s human rights and the right to dignity in the state, it was stated that the report “must also contain how the state government is ensuring the functions of the gramme panchayat, as per the constitutional provisions or Panchayati Raj Law.
The Director General of Police in Rajasthan has also been sent a notice to furnish specifics regarding police actions against the offenders and enablers of such crimes.
Gulab Chand Kataria, a BJP leader, says in response to the topic: “For loan repayment, girls are sold. This is something that other people have also said. The state administration has been asked to submit a report on this issue by the NHRC. The government should treat it seriously because it is a serious matter.”
