Bhubaneswar FIRST, an unique urban government concept, was introduced by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation on Friday in the nation’s capital. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik made a plea for everyone to maintain the city clean, green, and beautiful in a video greeting to the residents of Temple City on the occasion.
The BMC officials explained the idea behind the “Bhubaneswar FIRST” program, stating that it is all about putting the interests of the city first by involving all local stakeholders, including residents, public officials, and government organizations. “Everyone needs to accept Bhubaneswar as their janmabhoomi or karmabhoomi before anything, regardless of the profession, the age, or the economic or educational position, and therefore, the initiative Bhubaneswar FIRST,” a release from the civic authority noted.
The BMC-led project seeks to foster ownership, engagement, and convergence at every level in order to realize the city’s full potential and to establish itself as the only characteristic that residents can subscribe to and claim as their own. In this regard, the innovative program “Bhubaneswar First” will make an effort to involve all the stakeholders, including the public, in sharing responsibility with the authorities and cultivating a sense of civic ownership toward the assets of the city and the general state of the public realm, it continued.
