Unforgettable Achievements Of Former President Pranab Mukherjee On His Birth Anniversary

Former President Pranab Mukherjee, who was known as the ‘Man for All Seasons’, had a long and distinguished political career spanning over five decades. He was not only a notable person for the Congress party but the entire nation also. He was a five-time member of Rajya Sabha and was elected twice in the Lok Sabha, and his authority on parliamentary procedure was well-known.

In his entire political career, his contribution toward our nation was remembered forever and helped India develop in various sectors. Mukharjee died on 31st August due to brain surgery at the age of 84 and tested positive for COVID-19. On his Birth Anniversary, here are some of the notable contributions to our nation that changed the whole dynamic of India’s political system-

1. Pranab Mukherjee launched the ‘SmarTgram’ initiative as a pilot project in five Haryana villages on 2nd July 2016. This project was aimed to develop villages into humane hi-tech and happy townships that will ensure an enhanced quality of life that contributes to the harmony, happiness, and well-being of the entire resident.

2.  For the improvement of the quality of life of the President’s Estate’s inhabitants, Pranab Mukherjee introduced an initiative codenamed as 4S – Sanskar, Sanskriti, Sparsh, and Samagam. He even introduced the concept of e-rickshaw service within the presidential compound, which brought a huge relief to the residents.

3. Mukherjee also had a massive contribution to solar power as he introduced the first phase of a solarisation project in the President’s Estate. This initiative helped reduce the carbon footprint and make the estate more energy efficient, where seven rooftop solar panels were installed with an investment of 2.23 crore.

4.  A new museum was also created under the tenure of Mukherjee, where it highlights the landmark events right from the Delhi Durbar of 1911 to the oath-taking ceremony of the First President of India, Rajendra Prasad.
