Social media users are re-sharing journalist Palki Sharma’s speech from the previous year. Journalist Palki Sharma was commended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday for her speech at the Oxford Union, when she made the case that “Modi’s India is on the right path.”Sharma used X (previously Twitter) to clarify that the words were made more than a year ago, but she also expressed her surprise at how well the speech had resonated with so many people when it went viral on social media.
“You have given a wonderful glimpse of the massive transformations taking place across India,” PM Modi said on X in response to her article.”We are debating India’s Path tonight, and I could wrap my argument in one sentence borrowed from the White House: ‘Go to New Delhi and see it for yourself,'” she said, citing National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby’s June 2023 statement.
After recounting an instance, Sharma continued, listing “three of the many developments” in India: the expansion of airport traffic, the adoption of the internet and mobile devices, and financial inclusion. “I have lived in many Indias—the same India where exciting policies and positions were abandoned,” the woman went on. The indecisive India, where choices were made based on views held by people throughout the world. And the more self-assured India of today, the global hub for inspiration and leadership. Indians are more self-assured outside because they are rich at home.
