In the multi-million dollar mobile gaming software scam known as E-Nuggets, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has found cash worth Rs 1.6 crore and bitcoins worth Rs 7 crore from the home of an intimate friend of Amir Khan. Late on Wednesday night in Kolkata, the recovery was made at Rumen Agarwal’s home in Ultadanga.
Rumen Agarwal has reportedly been detained by ED investigators, who have also removed several diaries and a laptop from his home. Another suspect in the scheme, Umesh Agarwal, is still at large. According to ED sources, they have obtained information on a number of people who are thought to be involved in this scam from the laptop and journals that were confiscated.
The entire amount seized by the Kolkata Police and the ED now stands at Rs 141.47 crore. The investigation into the case began on September 10 when ED detectives found a Rs 17.32 core at the home of the primary suspect, Amir Khan’s father Nasr Khan, in the Garden Reach neighbourhood of south Kolata. At that time, Amir Khan had fled.
Amir Khan was later detained by Kolkata Police officers in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Five of his close pals were also detained by the municipal police. Subhojeet Srimani, another close friend of Khan’s, has fled, and the municipal police have issued a lookout notice for him. Srimani is thought to have lately sought refuge in Dubai.
