Bomb Threat Email To MHA Turns Out To Be A Hoax

One of the safest areas of the country, the North Block, was rocked by widespread terror on Wednesday when a bomb threat email was forwarded to a Home Ministry official. The email sparked an extensive search by several authorities, but it was eventually determined to be a fake. According to a top Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official, at 3:37 p.m., they received a bomb threat letter from the police control room (PCR) located in the North Block.

Two fire engines were sent to the scene in response, following standard operating procedures. Numerous Delhi Police units, including bomb disposal teams and sniffer dogs, arrived on the scene at the same time. Nothing unusual was discovered in spite of several hours of intensive searching. The security services eventually acknowledged that the threat had been exaggerated.

The most recent warning surfaced a few days after bomb threat emails claimed to have been sent to the Tihar Jail, Indira Gandhi International Airport, and other hospitals in Delhi, claiming explosives were on their property. Nevertheless, Delhi Police’s further investigations revealed that the threats were only false alarms. About 20 days ago, phony threat emails were sent to more than 150 schools in the Delhi-NCR, sparking a massive police response. It is believed that Budapest, Hungary, is where the threats that were sent to the schools came from. According to official sources, the Delhi Police would initiate contact with their Hungarian colleagues shortly in order to proceed with the investigation.
