“Discrepancies had emerged in the police inquiry, as per the court order. The time stated in the inquest report and the autopsy report were at different times. The family had given up on the state police investigation. According to attorney Lokenath Chatterjee, the court formed a SIT to look into the event.
“We don’t trust the state police. A CBI investigation was something we desired. The slain girl’s grandfather had previously informed media that he and his family were not pleased with the high court’s decision to authorise a SIT inquiry.According to the sources, Biswas, former IPS officer and retired West Bengal police inspector general Pankaj Dutta, and special commissioner of the Kolkata police Damayanti Sen will make up the three-person SIT.On June 28, the SIT is required to produce its initial report. The victim’s body may need to be exhumed for a second autopsy, as the court has delegated that decision to the SIT.
