Chief Secretary Anu Garg visited Deras Seafood Park and spoke with top state exporters about problems, solutions, and needs pertaining to seafood processing, value addition, exports, and industry growth. The Chief Secretary placed a strong emphasis on increasing investment, output, and exports in the industry in order to transform the park into a fully operational, export-focused seafood processing and value addition hub.
Garg met with concerned officials at Deras during the visit, including IDCO MD D Prashanth Kumar Reddy, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Commissioner-cum-Secretary Prem Chandra Chaudhury, OPTCL MD Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma, Water Resources Principal Secretary Shubha Sharma, and other stakeholders. The operationalization of industrial units, addressing investor concerns, and making the most of the park’s infrastructure and shared amenities were the main priorities. The Chief Secretary delivered the appropriate instructions after reviewing the park’s currently allotted plots and units that are operational, under construction, and in planned phases.
In order to fully operationalize the park, she emphasized early activation of industrial enterprises, re-operationalization of idle common facilities, and enhancement of fundamental services. In keeping with the Viksit Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, the Chief Secretary further instructed authorities to guaranty that the park is fully used as part of the Blue Economy project. Afterward, Garg went to the Center of Excellence on Horticulture in Deras to examine its shade net house, nectarine nursery, VNR guava, dragon fruit, and red banana production, as well as a solar-powered cold storage facility with a capacity of 10 metric tons. She was informed about actions being made to support farmer empowerment and contemporary, technology, and sustainable horticulture.
