On the first day of the winter session, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi gave the Odisha legislature a supplemental budget of Rs 12,156 crore for the current fiscal year 2024–2025. For the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, which will take place in Bhubaneswar in January of next year, the government has set up Rs 125 crore. Similarly, the deployment of the Central Armed Police Forces in the state has been budgeted Rs 299 crores for the current fiscal year.
Rs 1056 crore has been set aside by the government for the state’s portion of the National Health Mission (NHM) program. An extra Rs 644 crore has been set aside by the government to implement the state government’s major healthcare program, the Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Yojana. Additionally, Rs 1750 crore has been allocated by the state government under the Special Central Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure initiative. The program’s goal is to increase state capital expenditures.
The supplementary budget includes an extra Rs 1196 crore for the Subhadra Yojana, a social program that uses financial aid to empower women. In partnership with Tata Technologies Limited, the state government has set aside Rs 130 crore to construct a Center of Excellence in 22 of the state’s ITIs. Likewise, the state government allocates Rs. 300 crore for loans to public sector units under the state energy department in the supplemental budget. In accordance with the State Finance Commission’s (SFC) award in the Supplementary Statement of Expenditure, 2024–2025, the state government has additionally contributed Rs 196 crores for transfers to Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).
Meanwhile, the state assembly’s supplemental budget includes Rs 338 crore for the Madhubabu Pension Yojana.
