The Odisha government approved a proposal for conducting State-level serological surveillance by ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar in 12 districts as informed by Additional Chief Secretary of Health & Family Welfare Department, PK Mohapatra, in a letter to the RMRC Director.
According to the reports, the serological surveillance will be conducted in the districts of Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Khordha, Puri, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Nabarangpur. The purpose of the survey is to estimate and compare the age-specific prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in the general population and health care workers across the State.
Additional Chief Secretary of Health & Family Welfare Department, PK Mohapatra further informed that the total expenditure of Rs 57,70,500 for the aforesaid purpose shall be met out of Public Health Response Fund (PHRF).
