Cyclone Biparjoy makes a landfall

The storm surge caused by the cyclone, according to the meteorological agency, is anticipated to be 2-3 metres above the astronomical tide and to inundate low-lying parts of Dwarka, Okha, Diu, Naliya, Veraval, Bhuj, Porbandar, and Kandla. According to IMD, the astronomical tides in several of these districts may reach heights of up to 3-6 metres.

The landing process is anticipated to last till Thursday night. The landfall point is most likely to be between Mandvi and Karachi near Jakhau port. The landfall process lasts a few hours and can go on until midnight. The area where landfall will occur has a more gulf-like topography than a regular coastline, therefore the landfall procedure will take some time. The overall system has a wide radius of around 300 km, while the core wind area has a radius of 100 km. Ananda Das, who oversees cyclones at IMD, described the storm as extremely severe and predicted that it would sustain its current strength.

If you look at the radar, you won’t notice much rainfall in the cyclone’s northern part.
As previously noted, the southern eyewall will get the most of the rainfall. According to Vineet Kumar Singh, researcher at the Typhoon Research Centre at Jeju National University in South Korea, places on the southern side of the centre will get more rain over the course of the next six hours than areas on the northern side.
