Dengue And Malaria On Radar: Health Minister Directs Proactive Measures

To examine the state’s current waterborne and vector-borne illness condition, Health Minister Dr. Mukesh Mahaling presided over a special review meeting at the State Secretariat. The group discussed ways to prevent infections including dengue, malaria, jaundice, and diarrhea. The Health Minister was informed by Health and Family Welfare Secretary Aswathy S that the state government has provided durable bed nets coated with insecticidal in districts that are prone to malaria, such as Boudh, Gajapati, Kalahandi, Koraput, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Rayagada, and Mayurbhanj. under 12 areas, pesticide spraying is also under progress.

Last year, dengue cases were detected in Balasore, Khordha, and Sundargarh, according to a statement released by the Information and Public Relations Department. In response, the Minister ordered the implementation of proactive measures, such as extensive public awareness campaigns, diagnosis, and treatment, to prevent and control dengue and malaria. 188 of the 31,449 dengue tests that were performed as of June 23 came back positive. The Health Minister has ordered the continuation of proper treatment and more dengue tests.

The state’s newborn mortality rate and maternal mortality ratio were also discussed at the conference. The Minister emphasized the need of keeping a close eye on these indicators. He was pleased to see that the diarrhea condition has improved in six areas. The Departmental Secretary, Special Secretary, Director of Public Health, Director of Health, Director of Family Welfare, Additional Director (Public Health), and Additional Director (Vector Borne Diseases) were among the high-ranking officials.
