In the Bargarh district’s Amlipali hamlet, under the Bheden block, a diarrhea outbreak has killed a couple, and three family members are critically ill in the hospital. The water-borne illness has also afflicted thirty villages. After learning about the situation, Atabira MLA Nihar Ranjan Mahanand traveled to the village, where he instructed the CDMO to inform the district health department and give the impacted individuals urgent medical assistance.
A medical team has been sent to the community, where they are treating patients and doing assessments from home to house. The drinking water supply department and medical teams have gathered water from a tube well for testing, and the villager belief is that this is the source of the disease. There are measures in place to stop the spread, and the situation is being continuously watched.
