Donald Trump describes his federal indictment as “ridiculous” and “baseless.”

In his campaign for a second term, Trump claimed that the Justice Department’s indictment was an effort to harm his chances of winning re-election.During his first public appearances following the charges’ unsealing on Saturday, former President Donald Trump decried the 37 felony counts against him as “ridiculous” and “baseless,” as he attempted to use his imminent legal trouble for political gain.Speaking at Republican state conventions in Georgia and North Carolina, Trump said that the DOJ’s indictment of him was an effort to harm his chances of winning the presidency as he runs for re-election.

In Georgia, Trump said that “they’ve launched one witch hunt after another to try and stop our movement, to thwart the will of the American people,” adding that “In the end, they’re not coming after me.” They are pursuing you.
In spite of his escalating legal troubles, which include criminal charges brought against him in March in New York, Trump remains the front-runner for the GOP nominee in 2024. Trump has repeatedly attempted to discredit law enforcement agencies in the face of an investigation and depict himself — and his supporters — as victims, even when he is charged with severe offences.
