E-Rupee introduced in Bhubaneswar by E &IT Principal Secy Manoj Mishra

Manoj Kumar Mishra, Principal Secretary of the Government of Odisha’s Electronics and Information Technology (E&IT) Department, unveiled the HDFC Bank’s E-Rupee (Central Bank Digital Currency) on Thursday in Bhubaneswar.
The digital currency has been introduced for the first time in Bhubaneswar in order to give the city’s small business owners the ability to digitise their payments through CBDC and lessen the difficulties they have with cash payments.One of the four places where CBDC would be rolled out initially by RBI is Bhubaneswar. To carry out the scheme, the RBI and HDFC Bank have teamed up. The bank has signed up small retailers for the E-Rupee platform.

The Digital Currency was introduced by E&IT Principal Secretary Manoj Mishra at the opening of HDFC Bank’s 190th branch in Odisha at Pokhariput in Bhubaneswar. The 33rd branch of HDFC in Bhubaneswar located in Pokhariput. In the presence of Shubhranshu Mishra, Joint Secretary to the CM, and Puja Mishra, Joint Secretary Science and Technology, the E&IT Principal Secretary opened the branch. On this occasion, SHG loans were given to two women’s SHG groups, checks were given to the groups, and Manoj Kumar Mishra gave the owner of an electric vehicle the key as part of a green initiative.He thanked the bank personnel and gave advice on adding additional ATMs to unbanked general practitioners in Odisha. Additionally, he exhorted the bank to reach out to rural areas of Odisha. The SHGs led by Mission Shakti also displayed their millet-based goods. The bank provided financing for tractors, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, and four-wheelers. Cheques for the disbursements were delivered to the beneficiary.
