A heated exchange has erupted between conservative commentator Laura Loomer and former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan over the Trump administration’s decision to halt all visitor visas from Gaza, including those granted for medical and humanitarian purposes.
The U.S. State Department announced on X that the move was part of a “full and thorough review” of procedures after a small number of temporary medical-humanitarian visas were issued in recent days.
Loomer, who had earlier criticized the arrival of Palestinian children in San Francisco for medical treatment, celebrated the administration’s move, writing, “It’s amazing how fast we can get results from the Trump administration,” with an applause emoji. The post has since been deleted. In another post, she described the arrivals as a “national security threat,” calling them “Islamic invaders.”
Mehdi Hasan responded by sharing a Rolling Stone article on the visa freeze, writing: “Imagine how soulless and sociopathic you have to be to see children getting healthcare and going out of your way to prevent them from getting it. The modern pro-Israel, Trumpist conservative movement.”
Loomer then hit back at Hasan by resurfacing one of his past controversial posts — since deleted — where he had written, “Make American Planes Crash Again,” following a fatal plane crash in Georgia. Hasan later apologized, calling the wording “poorly chosen.”
The online feud underscores the growing polarization in U.S. political and media circles over humanitarian aid and the ongoing Gaza conflict.
