The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has planned a special train service from Puri in Odisha to Shalimar in West Bengal to help transfer passengers who have been stranded by train cancellations due to Cyclone Dana.
Many passengers were unable to reach their destinations as a result of the cyclone’s disruption of multiple regular train itineraries, according to a notification released by ECoR on Friday.
On October 26, at 11:20 PM, the special train, 08490 Puri-Shalimar Special, will leave Puri and go for Shalimar. On October 27, at 10:50 AM, the 08489 Shalimar-Puri Special will depart Shalimar in the other way.
On its journey between Puri and Shalimar, the train would stop at Malatipatapur, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Jajpur, Keonjhar Road, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kharagpur, and Santragachhi in both ways.
The special service will offer a range of accommodations, including one AC-2 Tier, three AC-3 Tier, ten Sleeper Class, four Second Class Seating, and two guard-cum-Second Class compartments with facilities for passengers with physical disabilities.
