According to reliable sources, the Jammu and Kashmir Police are getting ready to reactivate a number of murder investigations involving prominent Kashmiri Pandits, including the over 30 years old murder of retired judge Neelkanth Ganjoo. In order to uncover the intricate details of the conspiracy surrounding Ganjoo’s murder, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) of the J&K Police issued an appeal to the general public.

The SIA urged those with either direct or indirect knowledge of the occasions or circumstances surrounding the murder to come forward and assist the ongoing police investigation in their plea statement. The murder of Ganjoo in 1989 was just one in a string of targeted killings carried out by Islamic militants supported by Pakistan, forcing Kashmiri Pandits to flee their homes to avoid danger and causing the largest mass exodus in India’s history.

Contact the authorities by phone at 8899004976 or email at sspsia-kmr@jkpolice.gov.in if you have any relevant information. The SIA’s investigation aims to elucidate the core elements of the bigger criminal enterprise that produced Ganjoo’s murder. He was targeted by terrorists because he presided over the prosecution of separatist Maqbool Bhat, who founded the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), and was a former sessions and district court judge.
