On Wednesday, the much awaited flying car of the future was unveiled in Dubai. Chinese electronic vehicle (EV) manufacturer Xpeng Inc. produced the flying automobile “X2.” Two propellers, one on each corner of the two-seater EV, are used to lift it during vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL).
The unmanned test flight of the automobile was performed successfully in 90 minutes. The company is going step-by-step to offer the car to the international market, according to the general manager of the company, Minguan Qui.
According to company representatives, Dubai was selected for the car’s premiere because it is the “most innovative city in the world,” and this provides the groundwork for a strong basis for the development of the next generation of flying automobiles.
The carbon dioxide emissions from the eVTOL automobile are zero, and it was made with low-altitude city driving in mind. With an intelligent flight control system and autonomous flying capabilities, X2 will be capable of a top flight speed of 130 km/h. The two-seater flying EV has a maximum takeoff weight of 760 kg and weighs 560 kg empty.
The event’s planners thought that short-haul travel and intelligent mobility solutions were entering an exciting new era. The administration of the UAE had previously planned to implement the idea of an autonomous air taxi, in which a flying vehicle would be employed for the first self-flying taxi service in history.
